Review – Transformers ‘84: Secrets and Lies #4

The final part of this classic mini-series. For fans of the original Transformers series – here’s what happens before they wake on Earth! This is Transformers ‘84: Secrets and Lies #4 from IDW Publishing.

The epic conclusion to Secrets and Lies! On Earth, Grimlock stands alone against… Megatron? Meanwhile, on Cybertron, The Wreckers take on their very first mission! The secret history of Earth and Cybertron is revealed!

by Simon Furman (Author), Guido Guidi (Artist)

And that brings us to the ending. Well, I say the ending, but there is a lot here left open. I think there is scope for further adventures in this time before the ’84 series kicks off.

Grimlock gets some good time to shine, and there is some interesting discussions between him and the Decepticon jets. The fight with the controlled Megatron was very interesting, and I like the way it built up. Megatron not talking during a fight was quite off putting.

Meanwhile on Cybertron, we get some good battle scenes, with the Wreckers doing what they do best.

I would like to see more from this – maybe a story of the resistance against the Decepticon rule on Cybertron.

The commentary worked out well, and the switching between the side was a good way of realistically telling the story.

Please let us see more of these classic ‘bots!
