Review: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #114

The latest issue of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is out now from IDW Publishing:

Jennika comes face to face with the person who almost killed her—Karai! Will the other Turtles be able to stop Jennika from exacting revenge before Bebop and Rocksteady find her first?

Sophie Campbell (Author, Artist, Cover Artist) Ronda Pattison (Colorist)

The time-travel shenanigans take a bit of a back seat here, as there are bigger problems.

There are two mutants loose in Mutant Town, and there were on their way to the Foot Clans HQ. A crash caused some problems, so not only do the TMNT have to look for the mutants, but they have some old enemies in their home.

This causes some problems for Jennika, as Karai is one of the injured and could be at her mercy. It will be interesting to see where this pans out to, as she has been told the future and what may happen.

There are some excellent character moments in this issue. Jennika is the main one, but there is some interesting callbacks with Donatello. Beepop and Rocksteady are back on the scene, and after they almost killed Don, there are some interesting thoughts.

The two escaped mutants will be familiar to those of us old enough to have watched TMNT II: The Secret Of The Ooze. I like how they seem to have the same childlike innocence – but in a massive body.

This continues to be a great series and one I’m looking forward to seeing more of.
