Review: 2000 AD – Prog 2221

With a new Judge Dredd and Thistlebone story, this is 2000 AD Prog 2221 from Rebellion.

Love this cover by PJ Holden!

Cadet Dredd: Who Killed Captain Cookies by Kenneth Niemand (w) PJ Holden (a) Quinton Winter (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)

A new Dredd story starts here, and a new addition to the mythos of Mega City One. I like the build and Dredd’s opinion. The ending was a fun return too.

Sláine: Dragontamer by Pat Mills (w) Leonardo Manco (a) Annie Parkhouse (l)

This continues to be excellent. Some amazing art and the fight scene was excellent. I like the way this seems to be working out and the reactions of Slaine.

Thistlebone: Poisoned Roots by TC Eglington (w) Simon Davies (a) Simon Bowland (l)

A suitably creepy return for Thistlebone. This was a slower start, but finished off interestingly. I like the art and the reveal at the end.

Proteus Vex: The Shadow Chancellor by Mike Carroll (w) Jake Lynch (a) Jim Boswell (c) Simon Bowland (l)

This was an interesting issue. A lot was uncovered here, and Vex continues to be a great character. I like the twist with the translation and the reveal of what had happened.

Durham Red: Served Cold by Alec Worley (w) Ben Willsher (a) Jim Campbell (l)

Red (kind of) finds out why she was targeted. She’s not happy and there are some interesting plot points. Was it her?
This was a slower issue, but it seems like next issue will be faster paced.
