Review – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Jennika II #5

The latest issue if this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles spin-off series is out this week from IDW Publishing.

After rescuing the son of a crime boss, Jennika finds herself with an impossible task: train a new generation of assassins or she, and the boy, will face deadly consequences. Will Jennika be able to escape her past when others will stop at nothing to bring it back?

Ronda Pattison (Author, Colorist) Jodi Nishijima (Artist, Cover Artist)

Building on the background of Jennika, this was an interesting story. Jennika does well and she looks to be making amends from her past deeds.

I like the way it built up. You know that things are going to go wrong – but the build up was really well done.

The shifty mob connections are well done, and Jennika’s reasoning for doing what she is doing are honorable, but it is those around her.

The fight scenes are well done, and we get two good ones here. Jennika holds her own in both, but an untimely distraction causes problems for the second fight. I like the way they were laid out.

This has a good story and it tells the tales behind the scenes in Mutant Town well, these spin-offs tell good stories and add to the universe of the TMNT.
