Review: 2000 AD – Prog 2238

Out this week with a return of Aquila! This is 2000 AD – Prog 2238 from Rebellion.

Judge Dredd: Removal Man by John Wagner (w) Colin MacNeil (a) Chris Blythe (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)

The hunt is on! I’m really enjoying the dual aspects of this story. Dredd’s investigation started on a whim, but it’s really speeding up. Will it be in time? I like the set-up here.

Aquila: The Rivers of Hades, Book One by Gordon Rennie (w) Patrick Goddard (a) Dylan Teague (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)

Some excellent storytelling here – I love the way this is building up, and it looks like another quest. The colouring is magnificent!

Department K: Cosmic Chaos by Rory McConville (w) Dan Cornwell (a) Len O’Grady (c) Simon Bowland (l)

I like the cross between the humour and the more serious aspects here. We get a look at what killed the Locus, but there must be more to it. The sci-elements are really good.

Skip Tracer: Eden by James Peaty (w) Paul Marshall (a) Dylan Teague (c) Jim Campbell (l)

Blake makes some landfall, and there is still an interesting mystery here. I like the background to it – I do wonder if the character at the arrival port is going to be important later? Good showing of his Blake’s powers too.

Chimpsky’s Law: The Talented Mr Chimpsky by Kenneth Niemand (w) PJ Holden (a) Chris Blythe (c) Simon Bowland (l)

We find out who is behind the deaths – and why. The reason seems sound, but there is lots to learn about the reason why Chimpskey was included….
That final panel was excellent.
