In the small Midwestern town of Howlett, navigating high school is tough enough. When a group of friends are inexplicably turned into weredogs, they have to learn to adapt to their new powers. This leads to an unlikely friendship with loner Mara, a werewolf whose father mysteriously vanished. As they team up to solve the disappearance, friendships are tested, secrets are revealed, and the Werewoofs’ have to prove themselves in an explosive showdown against a pack of werewolves and their vicious alpha.

Many, many moons ago I reviewed Watson & Holmes from New Paradigm Studios, and now it looks like they have another classic on their hands.
Werewoofs does an excellent job of getting you involved in this fantastic story. I found that once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down.
The introductions of the characters work really well. The new people, the families, the loner. All with something behind them all. On top of that, there is some interesting history that affects all that goes on here. A history of the werewolves and their involvement with crime and battles against law enforcement.
The ‘origin’ of the werewoofs was well done, with an interesting mix to it, and adding something new to the mythos of the werewolves. The learning that the group have to do, and have still to learn adds some new dimensions to the story and teases some new things for the future. On the subject of the future, there is what seems like a throwaway line at the end that makes me hope for future volumes of this story.
I really love the art style here. There are a lot of factors to throw in here – people, dogs, werewolves, wolves and the team do an admiral job of portraying not only the different characters and their reactions, but then to do it as a wolf or a dog. Combined with a brilliant set of colours, this is a great read and is easy on the eye.
There’s a lot to take in, here in this first issue, but I really enjoyed this and think it will be a great read for the target readers.
