With issues #1 and #2 spotlighted last April, issue #3 of The Hardways is now available – here are my thoughts.
The caper continues! Can kidnap victim Maury talk his way out of trouble? Will the kidnappers get their dough before falling into the clutches of the Brandini Sisters? Read on to find out!

I’m really glad to get back into this story. There is an excellent refresher at the start that gets you right into it again, and lays out all the key aspects and who’s who!
This issue does a really good job of building up the tension. The cracks are beginning to show and things are really breaking apart.
Meanwhile, the hunt is on, and after some mistakes by the kidnappers, we know things are about to happen. Nevertheless, this issue really works well on how this is all set up. I have so many thoughts on how this is going to end, and if it is any of those, or something I haven’t thought of, then it will be an enjoyable story.
The characters are getting fleshed out here – especially the kidnappers. We learn what they hope for with the ransom money, and I think that says a lot about them. The violence is explosive and leads me into the art…
I really enjoy the art, there are some excellent scenes here, with the explosive ending, and some sudden scenes midway being shown really well.
This is an enjoyable read, worth reading on if you are already in on it, and catching up if you are not!
