Review: 2000 AD – Prog 2269

From Rebellion this week, it’s 2000 AD – Prog 2269.

Judge Dredd: 5 In The Cubes by Arthur Wyatt (w) Nicolo Assirelli (a) Gary Caldwell (c) Annie Parkhouse

A nice one-shot story, showing the other side of crime and punishment. The “scare them straight” idea is a good one here, but the profiling side is a little dodgy – this is Mega City One though. A dark finish to this here.

Tharg’s Terror Tales: Foreclosure by John Tomlinson (w) Anna Morozova (a) Jim Campbell (l)

A dark classic terror tale, with some fun sci-fi thrown in. I think I could see some of the way this was going (no pun intended), but the end was good and left to the imagination!

Saphir: Liaisons Dangereuses by Kek-W (w) David Roach (a) Peter Doherty (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)

A good ending to this tale, with a remembered (and current) foe. I loved the art and the craziness of it all.

The Order: Fantastic Voyage by Kek-W (w) John Burns (a) Simon Bowland (l)

A great frantic battle against the shadow-kraken. I like the way this story flowed from the fight to the retreat. There is something yet to happen and the war against this shadow isn’t over yet.

Proteus Vex: Desire Paths by Michael Carroll (w) Jake Lynch (a) Jim Boswell (c) Simon Bowland (l)

Things start to click into place here – this is a tense issue. There is a lot of information, but it is well told and links up nicely with the rest of this story and the previous one.
