From Zenescope Entertainment, there is a new one-shot story this week. This is Grimm Spotlight Gretel: Bloody Mary.
Gretel and her partner Calibar have dedicated their lives to hunting witches and protecting children from their predatory ways. Now the hunt has brought them to New England, where they search for one of the most notorious witches in America. But when a new and deadly evil threatens the lives of children residing in a small town in New Hampshire, the heroes are driven to intervene. But have they run into more than they bargained for?Writer: David Wohl

Building on the ongoing story of Gretel and Caliber in their witch-killing quest. This takes a slight detour away from that (still involving magic though)
What follows is Gretel and Caliber looking for some missing children, an issue that is close to home for both of them. This is well told and starts off as something pretty sinister, and as we learn, a sad story too.
The magic taking place here is interesting too – there is a case of Chekov’s Gun here, with the solution in sight. It is an interesting development, and I wonder if there will be any more of this use of magic in future adventures by the duo.
The character work is well done here, and it builds on the relationship between the two well. They are an interesting mix, and both have their own strengths, which is demonstrated here. This is more of an equal partnership in terms of skills too.
I enjoyed the art here, and it had some good degrees of horror, Gretel delving into the past was well shown too.
