From Image Comics is The Magic Order 2 #4 – out now.
London is under siege as warlock Victor Korne marshals all the creatures in the darkness, bringing them together for a single purpose—to shatter the Magic Order and reclaim their place as the world’s rulers. They’ve been living in the shadows too long, and now they want revenge for five hundred years of bowing to humanity. This is their chance to bring back the night.
Writer – Mark Millar
Art – Stuart Immonen
Building on the fallout from the last issue, things are rapidly going downhill.
All is not lost though as The Order is fighting back and are looking for more information. Regrettably, it seems the enemy is aware of their efforts and are causing some gruesome disasters of their own.
It builds well, starting us off where the last issue ends. The tension is high and this is a well-played out issue. We get the result of the deaths and the destruction here, as the Order try to make sense and regroup after all of this. You can understand the frustrations here though.
Nevertheless, The Order finds out more of what is going on, and why it is happening. From this, they can glean what the end game will be. It’s hard to tell how having this information will help them though, but as we are in the fourth issue of six, we are close to the endgame of the series.
Art-wise, there are some fantastic scenes, with some excellent colouring and styles throughout. From battles to meetings and to grimy warehouses, we really get a feel for this series, and the change in tone suits the story, as does the location.
Now I’ve got to wait to read what happens next….
