Review: 2000 AD – Prog 2274

From Rebellion this week is the latest issue of 2000 AD Prog 2274.

  • UK and DIGITAL: 23 March 2022 £3.25
  • NORTH AMERICA: 25 May $26
  • DIAMOND: MAR221846
  • COVER: Cliff Robinson (a) Dylan Teague (c)

Judge Dredd: The Citadel by John Wagner (w) Dan Cornwell (a) Dylan Teague (c) Annie Parkhouse

We get a bit of the undercity as we make our way to the titular Citadel. I like the way some of the characters get a talking to by Dredd. Very different, I do wonder where this is leading to though.

Kingmaker: Falls the Shadow by Ian Edginton (w) Leigh Gallagher (a) Jim Campbell (l)

A bit of an explainer issue, but we learn a lot. The reaction I feel is justified, and this will kick off the next, bigger, threat. I like the wry humour here.

Proteus Vex: Desire Paths by Michael Carroll (w) Jake Lynch (a) Jim Boswell (c) Simon Bowland (l)

An interesting finish to the arc. I like the way it plays on a throwaway item from a while ago. The dark humour is still there and this sets up for the next arc.

Fiends of the Eastern Front: 1963 by Ian Edginton (w) Tiernen Trevallion (a) Annie Parkhouse (l)

Combining the cold war spy stories and the supernatural is a good fit here. This issue adds something extra to the group and has some good mythical aspects.

Brink: Mercury Retrograde by Dan Abnett (w) INJ Culbard (a) Simon Bowland

Some interesting investigations going on here. I like the build to it all, and it looks like something may come out of it. Meanwhile, there are some interesting initiations going on with the sect/union. The ending looks pretty tense.
