From Zenescope Entertainment comes a new Oz Annual – Dominion of Ozmo.
Dorothy was once a young farm girl from Kansas, but now she rules in the Emerald City as the queen of Oz. The land of Oz is much larger and far older than its current inhabitants truly know, and the southern wall separating the Emerald City from the rest of the land has been broken. Now, sweeping in from the south, comes a force so evil and so powerful, that the heroes may not be enough to defend the world they love. Arriving in an all-new extraordinary adventure, Ozmo makes his triumphant return to the world he once called his dominion, to a people who knew only fear and destruction under his rule.STORY – JOE BRUSHA, RALPH TEDESCO, DAVE FRANCHINI, DAVID WOHL & JENNA LYN WRIGHT

It’s nice to have a return to Oz, and this annual resets the status quo and gives us something a little extra.
There is a new threat to the emerald city – and to Oz – and it is all to do with the destruction of the southern wall. Ozmo is an interesting character, and his ways make the threat to the emerald city, Oz and even the other realms very real. I like the way it deals with some aspects of the past, as well as setting things up for the future.
There is a lot of action here, with some army fight scenes – with flying monkeys – as well as the traditional red/green magic of Oz. It’s weird as I was reading about the Ruby City recently too.
The action is well-paced, with some interesting flashbacks, these are things that we were aware of, as well as some new aspects too. The larger size allows us to get deeper into this information.
I enjoyed the art style, with some rough pencils/inks and some excellent colour schemes in the story. For some reason, I was drawn to the style of the Scarecrow.
This was a good read, and sets things up for the future of Oz, and what is going to happen next.
