When black market coder Aurora Yi uncovers top secret data that has tapped into the past lives of the citizens of Mazu Bay, her world is turned upside down. The mega corporation Synastry Designs wants its data back and is hot on her trail. Aurora has no choice but to turn to the Fox and the Hare, the most feared mercenaries in the city, for protection.

This was a high-octane introduction.
Working in the flashbacks of what went before, and the now, this works well as a fast-paced, but well drawn-out issue.
There are some interesting points to get in this issue. The first part is the technology. With some great concepts and a good build, we get to see what makes the city and the people within tick. There are downloads of skills that people can install, with some good ideas. I lie the way that works, and I wonder where that can lead.
Our two main characters have something that links them well. The loss of their families draws them together and it looks like they are still wanting to get to the bottom of that – it also drives them to do good in the city. Even if they are mercenaries.
Added to that is a new addition to them, someone they weren’t expecting from their most recent job, we get a look at how that will affect them and what their immediate plan is moving forward.
Escape!
Then there is the boss of it all, looking over the city in his ivory tower. I like the concepts here, and can’t wait to read more of the story.
The artwork and colouring work well, giving a sci-fi feel, with some of the darker parts looking suitably seedy. The costumes and tech all-around click in well.
This was a great start to a long-awaited story to begin, and now I want issue #2
