Review: 2000 AD – Prog 2073

Some thoughts on this jumping-on issue of 2000 AD

JUDGE DREDD: FIT FOR PURPOSE by Rob Williams (w) Chris Weston (a) Dylan Teague (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)

A new arc starts here and its the sinister SJS Judge Pin. This is going to cause problems fro Dredd as he is dragged into Pin’s scheme to oust one of Dredd’s supporters in the SJS. I don’t think this is going to end yet!

JAEGIR: IN THE REALM OF PYRRHUS by Gordon Rennie (w) Simon Coleby (a) Len O’Grady (c) Ellie De Ville (l)

The return of Jaegir brings us back to Nu-Earth. There’s not much of the plot to get into here, but the drop ships going down to the war-torn planet was interesting though. I like the set up of it all, as well as the addition of the Southerners!

FUTURE SHOCKS: FREEDOM WEARS TWO FACES by James Peaty (w) Dylan Teague (a) Simon Bowland  (l)

An interesting look at the afterlife for Future Shocks. I love the art and shades of this story. The story itself is a very much one-and-done, and I like the ending.

SINISTER DEXTER: by Dan Abnett (w) Steve Yeowell (a) john Charles (c) Ellie De Ville (l)

Sinister Dexter return in this nostalgic look at their past. the art is pretty simple – it’s them in a diner waiting for a target, but a good reintroduction to the duo….

ANDERSON, PSI DIVISION: UNDERTOW by Emma Beeby (w) David Roach (a) Jose Villarrubia (c) Simon Bowland (l)

Anderson returns, with a new mystery for the Psi’s. I like the set up as we learn more about others in Psi-div, and there powers. There is someone watching Anderson though, and I like these stories!

JUDGE FEAR: MEMORIES ARE MADE OF THIS by Kek-W (w) Dan Cornwell (a) Annie Parkhouse (l)

A creepy Judge Fear story, with a look into it’s past and current role in Mega City. I like the way the flashbacks were done, although I suspected the ending, although it didn’t finish the way I thought. nice to see a bit of what the Dark Judges were like on Deadworld though!

STRONTIUM DOG: THE SON by John Wagner (w) Carlos Ezquerra (a) Ellie De Ville (l)

Good to see Johnny and the S/D agents back. Johnny meets a new face, and a link to his past. They are getting set up as bounty hunters and some of the old faces are there. I’m looking forward to seeing how this goes!
