Concentrating on the villains of 2000 AD for FCBD, here are some quick thoughts on the stories!
JUDGE DREDD: THE JUDGE WHO LAUGHS by Rob Williams (w) Henrik Sahlstrom (a) Simon Bowland (l)
I really enjoyed this one – a look into what makes Judge Death tick. He has his own demon and it’s causing him restless nights. Really well done! A nice creepy finish too!
BRASS AND BLAND: THE PROFESSIONALS by Karl Stock (w) Kael Ngu (a) Barbara Nosenzo (c) Oz Osborne (l)
On Nu-earth, some still manage to make a living and here are some! Not exactly villains, but not heroes, this had a satisfying conclusion and a nice twist!
THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG: LORD OF THE HUNT by Pat Mills (w) Kyle Hotz (a) Ellie De Ville (l)
I liked this changing of the guard style here, with the Myths being turned real, the demon is excellent, and the legend will now grow!
STIX: SLEEPING DOGS LIE by Matt Smith (w) Chris Weston (a) Simon Bowland (l)
I did wonder where this would lead – especially at the end. Stix is a good foil to Alpha and the ending gave me pause to grin!
THARG’S TERROR TALES: THE LAST OF THE HELLPHIBIANS by The Feek (w) Henry Flint (a) Ozvaldo Sanchez (l)
A twisted tale and I like the build up and the finish, really funny and a good primer for the humour you can get in 2000AD!
