Comixology: In The Apple iPad Apps Hall of Fame

Well done to Comixology!

Comic Books Fans Make Comics by comiXology the First Comic Book App to be Inducted into Apple’s iPad Hall of Fame

New York, NY / April 13th 2011 – comiXology, the leading distributor of digital comics for the iOS, Android and Web, today announced its popular Comics by comiXology App has been inducted into the Apple iPad Apps Hall of Fame.

“Our selection is indicative of the passion and hard work of everyone in the industry who has created the foundation that made this possible,” said David Steinberger, CEO of comiXology. “We have to give credit to Apple, all the publishers, creators, artists, writers and most of all, the comic readers that come back every Wednesday.”

The Comics by comiXology iPad App launched a year ago with the first generation iPad and has become the defacto standard digital comics. Through iterations of the app (with more to come) and feedback from industry leaders and our dedicated community, comiXology has been able to deliver a product for everyone to use and enjoy.

“We have an unwavering commitment to bring the joy of comics reading to the broadest audience for the benefit of new and old comic book lovers everywhere,” said David Steinberger, CEO of comiXology. “We’ve considered Apple a great partner since we launched the first digital comics store on the iPhone. I would personally like to thank everyone who has emailed, tweeted, facebooked and talked to us at conferences, giving us feedback and thoughts about Comcis by comiXology. From the beginning it has always been our passion to create the best reading experience in the most convenient way for everyone.”

The induction of the Comics by comiXology iPad App into the Apple Hall of Fame comes less than a week after comiXology’s release of Comics4Kids – an iPad and iPhone app specifically designed for young readers featuring titles from acclaimed publishers including Archie Comics, Image Comics and GKids (publishers of Secret of Kells) in addition to dozens of other classic comic titles. Available for free download and listed in the “New and Noteworthy” section of the iTunes store (http://itunes.com/apps/Comics4Kids), the app enables kids to explore a new realm of possibilities in reading with the availability of nearly 175 comics from 15 publishers (and enables parents with a safe reading environment for their kids).
