Read Your Graphicly Comics With Extras!

This was something that PSP Comics were doing – additional content to enhance your reading experience – like writers commentary.

I know the Septagon Studio’s title ‘Gator Butch’ had many extras – music, images etc…

You can see some Extras in action with the following books:

  • Artifacts #1 – Audio commentary with writer Ron Marz and publisher Filip Sablik
  • Red Plains: Mi Amor – Audio commentary with writer/creator Caryn A. Tate
  • Godkiller – video trailer for the Godkiller series from Halo 8

GRAPHICLY ENHANCES COMIC BOOK EXPERIENCE TO HELP CREATORS EXPAND STORIES

Addition of Extras to Comic Reader Makes Digital Comics Interactive, Immersive and Entertaining

July 21, 2011  – Just in time to join in the celebration of comic books at the San Diego Comic-Con, digital comics and entertainment platform Graphicly is proud to announce the expansion of their comic reader to include interactive and rich media extras.  Now comic stories can be accompanied by audio, video, interactive games and other extra features that are easily accessible from within the comic book on the Web, desktop, and recently-released Web-based comic reader widget.

“The crew over at Graphicly have always been big believers in utilizing the digital platform to its full potential,” said Filip Sablik, publisher of Top Cow “whether it’s by utilizing social networking or offering up creator commentary to supplement the reading experience. It doesn’t hurt they have the experienced interviewers and hosts from iFanboy as part of their team! Graphicly really cares not just about the reading experience, but the overall experience a fan has with one of their digital comics.”

By working with comic creators from all aspects of the comic industry, Graphicly has listened to what creators have wanted in terms of enhancing the stories they’re creating. The new functionality allows creators to develop three-dimensional stories that allow readers to truly experience the creator’s entire vision and become completely immersed in the story’s universe. Combining the creative vision with the leading technology capabilities of Graphicly, comics such as Artifacts #1 from Top Cow and Red Plains: Mi Amor from Caryn A. Tate are now accompanied with audio commentaries; while Godkiller from Halo8 features video to accompany the story. These extras can be accessed from an easy to navigate menu as well from clickable hotspots within the comic book itself.

“This release is the representation of what creators have been asking for,” said Graphicly CEO Micah Baldwin. “Providing the ability for creators to directly interact with their fans and develop deeply interesting, multi-faceted digital stories has always been our vision for how we can help support and push the industry. We believe in the stories and creators behind these great books and we’re delighted to help them go beyond the story and art to enhance their comics to be even more attractive to readers.”

All comics on Graphicly’s platform will be enabled to support these interactive extras for creators and publishers to utilize and are available to all readers via Graphicly’s innovative website. Previously available only within Graphicly’s Desktop application, this new release allows these extras to be viewable not only on the website but within any Graphicly comic reader widget, which can be embedded on any website as well as distributed to media sites such as G4TV.com and over 100+ other online destinations.

“As an independent creator, the ideal company to work with is one that makes your job easier, giving you more time to devote to your creativity,” said Caryn A. Tate, writer and creator of the independent comic Red Plains. “Graphicly has been a dream to work with, and my readers love the extra behind-the-scenes content, particularly the innovative audio commentary feature.”
