The End Is Totally Nigh, a new supernatural indie comic book series by writer Kara Barrett, is launching on Saturday, May 5th, 2012. A free digital version of the comic book will be available online for 24 hours to celebrate the series launch and Free Comic Book Day. The story, intended for mature readers, centers around a young woman with mysterious powers who must try to stop the impending apocalypse. It was funded last December on the social site, Kickstarter. Unlike many comics in the marketplace that feature hyper sexualized images of women, The End Is Totally Nigh features smart, confident women who have realistic bodies. It is drawn by artist Vinnie Rico.
“I wanted to create a series where female characters are defined by their actions, not skin tight clothing and cleavage.” states Barrett. The series features a gutsy female heroine who must battle evil forces.

The indie series is scheduled to be released in monthly installments. 15 issues are planned for season one of the series.
