I recently commented about the way that digital comics are allowing new creators to get their titles to a bigger audience – well here is an excellent example:
SUPER KAIJU HERO FORCE (Created by Casey Lau and Jeff Kwan and art by Erik Senopati) is a digital-only graphic novel that draws inspiration from Godzilla, 80’s video games and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles into one zany original adventure series.
Three American kids win a contest to visit the set of The Colossal Man Show; their favorite live-action superhero in Japan. Things go from “crazy” to “kyouki” when the kids magically bond to the rubber monster costumes and gain the superpowers as seen on the show!
Can the “Super Kaiju” figure out how to control their new found powers in time to save Tokyo from a crazed Colossal Man and sexy Space Vampires without trashing Tokyo like so many rice crackers?
Downloaded over 100,000 times for iPhone the comic has been called “a manga-inspired joyride through otaku fanboy culture, mashing super-heroes and Adult Swim style humor together” (GigaOM) has been reformatted for the iPad and is available with the free iBooks app in all 32 iTunes stores around the world.
It’s a fun and lively title and reads really well on the iPad – worth checking out!
