Review: 2000AD – Prog 1789

Chaos Day is over and now we have the aftermath!

Judge Dredd kicks off with The Days After with a rundown of what the result of Chaos Day has been. There’s a nice clean slate being made here (which happens every so often with Dredd) and a look towards a new start!

I’m enjoying the Durham Red tale – The ‘Nobody Wants This Job’ Job. I like how they’re having read get more frustrated with the situation as it progresses. That’s the problem with seeing the future! The art is classic 2000AD and excellent – I will look forward to more of this!

We get a new prog with Tharg’s Thrillers Presents 1947 with an alternate 1947 which latches on to a different end to the war and a different Britain. The art is sepia and toned like the time and is interspersed with flashbacks and photos and the introduction of Alan Turing is well done and apt too!

The Grievous Journey of Ichabod Azrael (and the dead left in his wake) is another new story which takes liberties with the history that we know. Different art than 1947, but also well constructed and laid out!

Niolai Dante: Symapthy for the Devil starts us off with some action and finishes us off with a game of Russian Roulette – I’m going to miss Dante, but it looks to me they are giving him the send off he deserves!
