My thoughts on this months Judge Dredd Megazine
A very Dredd-y cover from Ryan Brown!
A new Judge Dredd story starts in Psicho – We’ve got a psychic slasher – much in the form of Jack The Ripper, but with a Mega-City One/Psi mix! it’s a pretty grim and gritty story, which takes advantage of the longer form of the Megazine. I’m looking forward to see where this is going and I want to know if there is a historical case with the ripper in 2000AD 12 years ago!
Blunt calms things down for a while as what is left of the group recoup and get their act together. Blunt continues to be the calming influence among them, but you can see he is having trouble himself. The crazies of the team are enjoyable and Judd’s disappearance and subsequent return was fun – especially the reactions from it. There is fallout from the return too, and that makes this more interesting!
Angelic adds to the western genre in the Cursed Earth in part two – Home is the Hunter. We get some flashbacks of Pa’s time in what looks like Texas City – and what he got up to there. It gives a real western feel and it looks like young Linc maybe in trouble while Pa is dealing with trouble of his own. Things are going to get gruesome!
Anderson continues with the weird Psi issues for her and the perp. There are also some good flashbacks to her first day on the job with Dredd! i liked that and I like the parallels between the two. This isn’t over yet, and I’m looking forward to what comes next!
