Some thoughts on this week’s 2000 AD – Prog 2081
JUDGE DREDD: THE CHOSEN ONE by Rory McConville (w) Dan Cornwell (a) Abigail Bulmer (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)
This one-shot really made me grin. The build up was excellent, especially with the comments about the pop-up cult and the soft drinks manufacturer! The finish is an excellent throwback to a classic Dredd story!
SINISTER DEXTER: THE GANGBUSTERS by Dan Abnett (w) Steve Yeowell (a) John Charles (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)
A fund and action packed finish to this story arc. The issue with the thought bubbles continues, and I like the ending – a little cheesy, but well done.
I especially like the sky based action, it’s not something we get a usual look at in this series, so it was a nice change. The duo seem to have a new partner!
SKIP TRACER: HEAVY IS THE HEAD by James Peaty (w) Paul Marshall (a) Dylan Teague (c) Simon Bowland (l)
A good and interesting introduction for this new series. I like the fast build up and the hints to the larger story. The mystery looks good and the setting is a good idea – enclosed!
I also like the art too!
THE FALL OF DEADWORLD by Kek-W (w) Dave Kendall (a) Ellie De Ville (l)
the reurn of the fall, and after the last arc there’s a lot to be done. The Judge Child is an interesting throwback to the main MC1 universe, as is the ‘Mr Angel’. it looks like there’s a mission here, and I wonder where this will all lead….
STRONTIUM DOG: THE SON by John Wagner (w) Carlos Ezquerra (a) Ellie De Ville (l)
Kenton comes up with a plan, and Alpha comes up with a solution. This finishes the arc, adn Alpha has mellowed slightly. a well thought out ending with some aspects for the future!
