Review: Deadbox #2

From Vault Comics this week is the second issue of this series – this is Deadbox #2

A swap meet throws a marriage into crisis and threatens to undermine the faithful of Lost Turkey. The healing powers of a rom-com are required.

Writer: Mark Russell
Artist: Benjamin Tiesma
Colorist: Vladimir Popov
Letterer: Jim Campbell
Designer: Tim Daniel
Cover B: Benjamin Tiesma
Cover B: Corin Howell

Building on the small-town mentality of the last issue, Deadbox #2 adds some more flavour to the characters within.

This really builds on the characters we have already met, with a further look around the town. The small-town drama is quite interesting and adds some new aspects which we don’t really see in comics. It’s interesting from my point of view, as I’ve never seen anyone with these sort of problems.

Adding in the Deadbox, we get a suitably grim DVD story which has a nice story – featuring some theories that I had heard before – and is relevant to the story being told in the main arc.

The issue with the medication is interesting, and I wonder where that will lead to in the future. The commentary on the health system is eye-opening too. I didn’t know that was a thing!

I enjoy the art styles here, there are some good changes in the style, and we get some interesting scenes.

This continues to be an interesting read and builds on this little universe.

You can get Deadbox #2 from Vault Comics at your local comic shop or digitally.
