Review: We Ride Titans #2

From Vault Comics comes the second issue of this new series, this is We Ride Titans #2.

Learning to pilot a giant robot? Easy. Using that giant robot to smash kaiju? Piece of cake. Having to do both under the command of your estranged father, the only person in your family more stubborn than you? That’s where Kit Hobbs’ job finally gets difficult.

There is some real family tension going on here. And that is what makes this issue a well-rounded read. Kicking off the storyline with some action – albeit virtually, and adding to this family dynamic.

We learn a little more about what is going wrong within this unit – plus a little bit of the history.

The ending is interesting and throws something else out there for the next issue – and it was something that no one was expecting.

I like the way this issue moves. First, we have the brother and sister, trying to sort out their differences, and why things went so wrong. I like the way he’s played out, and there is more sorrow there than anger.

Then the training and the daughter/father relationship is taught. We can understand why he being so harsh, but it seems he is going a little over the top – we also get a bit of an understanding why.

This is a good story and a lot of excellent scenes – artfully shown and coloured too.
