Another ‘regened’ issue of 2000 AD out this week from Rebellion. Giving us something for old and new readers alike.
Cadet Dredd: Sub-Optimal by Arthur Wyatt (w) Davide Tinto (a) Gary Caldwell (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)
This story leaves out Rico, but does have young Dredd working with others. Different departments and it works well. We see some of the Dredd we know underneath, as well as some more of the underbelly of Mega City One.
Action Pact: The Radyar Recovery by Mike Carroll (w) Luke Horsman (a) Matt Soffe (c) Simon Bowland (l)
A nice action-packed “dirty dozen” style read. I like the buildup and the way we get the information. It doesn’t seem quite right and it looks like there is more underneath. Hopefully, we’ll see more.
Viva Forever by David Ballie (w) Anna Morozova (a) Pippa Bowland (c) Jim Campbell (l)
A nice twist on the thief theme. There are various shocks here, and I like the twists and turns all the way to the end. I thought I had it worked out for a minute, but then it turns. I enjoyed this.
Future Shocks: Geeno Firenzo’s Big Comeback by Karl Stock (w) Silvia Califano (a) John Charles (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)
Well, this is a bit close to now, isn’t it? Influencers, social media. I like the way this builds up, but it really hits you in the face. The shocks were pretty good though.
Mayflies: Precious Cargo by Mike Carroll (w) Simon Coleby (a) Dylan Teague (c) Simon Bowland (l)
More GI’s and I like the way the name links. There is some good stuff here, and a good way of making it all click with the younger ages.
