Review: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #125

From IDW Publishing there are some changes in the air in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #125

The Turtles come face-to-face with a territorial new group—the Punk Frogs! Will Mutant Town crumble when the two sides collide? Meanwhile, a new villain emerges AND the return of the Triceratons! A new era of TMNT starts here!

First of all, let’s talk about the parts that bookend this main story. The return to prominence of the Triceratons is very interesting, and there are some things that are straining the limits of their uneasy alliance with their former masters. This is compounded as in the first part, in flashback we discover a problem that the two groups are having. As the issue ends, there is a good finish as these tensions are bought real. It is an interesting point for the two groups and we can see how it will cause problems down the road for them. Something for the future, but I can see it boiling soon.

In the main part of the story – featuring the Turtles themselves, we get to see them at their dojo, and this issue features more human allies for the group. That is when we meet the Punk Frogs – a group with an axe to grind with the TMNT, after they believe that one of them has been kidnapped.

the fallout from this is well done, and I like the cramped fight, with the various weapons is undertaken. the finish is sad in a way, with some good aspects.

This is a good beginning of the arc, with a lot to go on. The small bit with Baxter Stockman is interesting and I wonder where it will go…
