We’re at the mid-point here, and we get some good background reading. I like the idea of the flashback and would personally like to see a spinoff series from these darker times.
Nevertheless, the harking back to the good old days is well done, and it links nicely in to the battles we have in the modern-day.
The Magic Order are on the back foot here, and things are not going their way. We get a look at some new magic aspects, as well as new magic wielders. It’s all very frantic. In amongst all of this, there are some more personal issues, which look to cause more problems before they get better – the ending of this issue really brings that home, with some suspected repercussions to follow. I like the way this is played out, with addiction being the problem, there is a very literal devil on the shoulder.
This was a hard-hitting issue that hits the mid point really well. The changes in locations are excellent and show the different dialects too. This continues to be a good second volume and I’m looking forward to the next issue.
