Review: Grimm Fairy Tales #46

The latest issue of Grimm Fairy Tales is out now from Zenescope Entertainment. My thoughts on the continuing quest for Shang!

The saga of the Dark Book continues as Skye pursues another escaped entity from this evil tome, one that may hold the answers that she needs to finally free Shang. Don’t miss this next exciting issue of Skye’s journey!

Skye continues in her quest for Shang and this time the Dark Book seems to be leading her on somewhere else.

There’s more of a horror aspect here, and those parts are done really well. Especially the build to what is down the well.

I like the way it is set up as Skye is lead on and on here. And the eventual reveal of ‘Mother’ is interesting. Will she be a character later on? Possibly, and I hope so, as she has some scope for more problems for the team.

The art style in this issue is interesting. There are some nice cartoony moments, especially in the facial expressions, but the dark aspects (of which there are a few) makes and interesting mix in the story. That’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy the art – I do – but it did pop out at me.

The story finishes in an interesting way, Skye seems to get help (?) from an unexpected quarter, and it may lead into something worse later.

The other part of the finish leads us well into the next issue, as something that is mentioned earlier on.
