Review: Transformers Annual 2021

From IDW Publishing this week is a special Transformers, this is the Transformers Annual 2021

“Light/Star”. Vigilem, an ancient force, a Cybertronian Titan, a seemingly unstoppable engine, broke the tether between Cybertron and its moon. Lodestar remains the only other active Titan and, together with her cityspeaker, Lightbright, has been tasked with bringing Vigilem home or taking him down. When Vigilem flees to a colony run by Thunderwing and his lackeys, Lightbright, Lodestar, and the Technobots will have to go on the most dangerous mission of their lives in pursuit of the Titan!

Out in space and far away from the problems on Cybertron.

Perhaps.

This was a good one-shot story. Linking in well to the main storyline, with some interesting aspects which may turn the tide in the civil war.

I like the build to all of this, there is a good look at what makes the titans tick, and the monotony on board is well done. The Technobots are a good group and it’s interesting to see them work as a team. Closer than they had before infact.

The threat of battle is there, and I like the way the tension builds up, until we not only get two titans going at it, but also something more.

This was a well planned issue, with the larger size allowing a degree of decompression. This shows at the beginning.

The art is well done, with some tight scenes, and then some amazing ones out in space.
